Task: intralingual dubbing

DUBBING TASK

This activity involves working in pairs or groups of three to dub an excerpt from a movie or series. You'll be given two videos:

Original video: This is the full scene with sound. You'll need to listen to it carefully several times to understand the dialogue and acting. Listen closely to the intonation employed by the characters in the scene.
Muted video: This is the same scene, but with the speaking parts of some characters muted. This is where your dubbing comes in!

You will have to dub a short clip from one of these popular movies or series:

- A scene from the film Frozen (2012)

- A scene from the film Mulan (1998)

- A scene from the series The Office (2005-2013)

- A scene from the film Zootopia (2016)

- A scene from the film Big Hero 6 (2014)

Ready to bring these scenes to life? Here's what you'll need:

An editing tool: To record your voices and create the final dubbed scene, you'll need a video editing app.

  • For computers: I recommend using Da Vinci Resolve. It's a powerful and free editing software with dubbing capabilities.
  • For mobile devices: If you don't have access to a computer, consider using Filmora on your phone, tablet, or iPad.

You can use a different editor if you are familiar with another one!
